Insights

  • The complexity of managing multiple retailers (each with different execution models, promotional mechanics, and stakeholder structures) makes it difficult for brands to maintain consistent standards without a partner who understands each channel's nuances
  • Without consistent, real-time reporting on bin compliance, stock on hand, and competitor presence, it was impossible to direct the field team with precision – decisions were reactive rather than proactive
  • In hardware, the battle isn't just won on the home site – off-location displays (bins, end caps, front-of-store units) drive disproportionate sales uplift, but they're vulnerable to removal, competitor takeover, and store-level inconsistency
  • Energizer's territory managers were operating on separate systems from the field team, limiting visibility and creating duplication of effort

Data-led weekly execution

Energizer feeds weekly stock-on-hand reporting into CROSSMARK's BI platform, which is overlaid with in-store compliance data captured via Store Track. Each week, the team aligns and identifies specific stores with opportunities – how many bins are on floor, what stock is available, and where the gaps are. This gives purpose and direction to every store visit.

Shared technology platform

Energizer's own territory managers are licensed on Store Track, meaning both the CROSSMARK field team and Energizer's internal reps capture data on the same system. This creates a single, consistent view of in-store performance – regardless of who completed the visit – and eliminates the duplication and inconsistency that comes from running parallel reporting.

Competitor benchmarking

Beyond tracking CROSSMARK's own compliance, the team reports weekly on competitive presence – whether Energizer is leading, equal, or trailing against Duracell in each store. This gives Energizer a live read on market position at store level, not just category-level sell-through data.

Permanent fixture rollout

In response to the ongoing challenge of cardboard bin disposal and rebuild cycles, Energizer is rolling out permanent MDF display fixtures across Bunnings nationally. CROSSMARK is executing the rollout and will transition to a maintenance model – replenishing and defending premium locations rather than constantly rebuilding. This eliminates an estimated 48,000 units of cardboard waste annually and is expected to drive higher sustained compliance.

benchmark

Integrated warehousing

CROSSMARK warehouses Energizer's display materials (bins, units, POS), enabling faster dispatch, delivery-aligned visit scheduling, and real-time stock tracking from warehouse to shelf. Energizer's territory managers can also place orders directly through the 3PL system, removing friction and reducing the risk of materials going missing in transit.

insight

Multi-retailer, multi-channel capability

One partnership covers Bunnings (weekly, hardware-specific execution), Woolworths (fortnightly, promotional compliance and front-of-store unit management), Big W, and Kmart – each with a tailored approach. The team understands that operating in Bunnings is a fundamentally different skill set to grocery, and the execution model reflects that.
